Dr. Samantha Dawson is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of British Columbia and a Michael Smith for Health Research Scholar. She is the Director of the Sexuality and Well-being Lab (SWELL Lab), an affiliate member of the Women’s Health Research Institute, and is in the process of registration as a clinical psychologist in BC. Her research program focuses on identifying mechanisms contributing to sexual function in individuals and couples, including during periods of known vulnerability (e.g., the transition to parenthood). The overarching goal being to use these mechanisms to develop targeted and empirically supported interventions. Dr. Dawson's research program is generously supported by funding from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Council, Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council, the Canadian Foundation for Innovation, Michael Smith Foundation for Health Research, and the University of British Columbia.
