Mai Wageh is a second-year Ph.D. candidate in the Molecular Exercise Physiology and Muscle Aging Lab as well as the Protein Metabolism Research Lab, supervised by Dr. Gianni Parise and Dr. Stuart Phillips, respectively. Her M.Sc. work looked at multi-ingredient protein supplementation and resistance training in healthy young men and women, and the stark sex differences in the response to acute exercise led her to investigate sex differences in muscle damage as part of her current Ph.D. work. Her current interests also lie in the satellite cell response to exercise and sex difference work with consideration of oral contraceptive use in premenopausal women.
