Today we welcome a new WHRC member to the team—Emily Anne Opala! In her new full time role, Emily Anne will support the WHRC’s knowledge translation initiatives including the Women’s Health Blog, Women’s Health Interrupted Podcast, Women’s Health Seminar Series, and more. We are excited to have her join our team of women’s health advocates and to see how she will strengthen and expand upon this foundation.
Emily Anne holds a Master of Science from McGill University, a Bachelor of Science from the University of Toronto and has her Project Manager Professional (PMP) designation. Her diverse professional experience includes fundraising for NGOs, providing counselling and case management to previously homeless women with substance use challenges and developing knowledge mobilization resources to support student mental health at the Centre for Innovation in Campus Mental Health. At Stepped Care Solutions, she used her expertise to lead knowledge mobilization projects within the engagement team for the federally funded program, Wellness Together Canada. Emily Anne uses her extensive understanding of mental health and her collaborative spirit to build programs and disseminate findings to various partner groups.
In her personal time, art and craft are what get Emily Anne out of bed in the morning. Whether it’s sewing a new dress, writing poetry, collaging, pottery, or life drawing, she loves to create and explore.
We are confident that her passion and experience will contribute greatly to the values and mission of the Women’s Health Research Cluster.
