Dr. Firat Kara, PhD

Research Associate

Discovery (Biological & Genetic Mechanisms)

Dr. Firat Kara has been studying biomarkers of Alzheimer’s disease in human and animal models for more than 13 years. He obtained his Doctorate at Leiden University in the Netherlands, in the field of Chemistry where he studied magnetic resonance imaging markers of Alzheimer’s disease in a mouse model of Alzheimer’s disease at ultra-high magnetic field strengths (9.4 T and 17.6 T). Since his appointment at Mayo Clinic, Dr. Kara has shown great interest in clinical and translational research. He has enrolled Mayo Clinic Translational and Certificate Program. Dr. Kara has been active in teaching and educational activities. Until now he has participated in several lectures on System Neuroscience, Spectroscopy, Biochemistry, and Physiology and contributed to the development of a laboratory course (i.e., Integrated Research Practices) at the University of Antwerp.
